Unforgettable Travel Moments with ALA-#2 Ryan Sagare, Guide-Glacier National Park

After a day of swimming in Iceberg Lake, our group descended towards the trailhead in Many Glacier. About an hour into our hike, we came upon a Grizzly bear sitting right smack in the middle of our trail, digging for roots. He was a gigantic, mature male, he must have weighed over 800 pounds! Making sure we were at a safe viewpoint, we stopped and took pictures of this amazing creature that luckily was more concerned with finding roots than with us. As guests snapped photos, I snuck into the woods and prepared a silver platter full of yogurt cups and berries. We (the bear and us) sat in the sun and enjoyed the scenery as we snacked. After a 30-minute wait, our friend the bear went on his way.

  1. Hey Ryan!! That was 1 of my most unforgettable vacation memories as well–other than watching you freeze your — off in Iceberg Lake! We were on the trip with you–remember Joey and the Car-Pets: Joe Kruse, Kristin Newman, Karen Brisacher & Cynthia (aka Shinta) Katafiasz.

    ALA–thanks for all the memories!!!

  2. Kristen I still have a great shot of me freezing on the iceberg. What a great trip. I am so glad that we have reintroduced the Glacier Trip. Many smiles, Kristen.

Cheers to many more good ALA memories.
