1974
Euro-Bike & Walking Tours is founded by Dr. Hendrik & Ellen Hoeve and Wim van Dijk, becoming the first U.S. bike tour company to establish operations in Europe.

1985
Backcountry Tours founded in 1985 by Doug and Carmin McSpadden specializing in bike tours in and around the Rockies.

1994
Dan Austin takes bike trip to Grand Teton National Park with a small tour operation located in Bozeman, Montana. He is so inspired he gathers together like-minded partners and purchases the company, Backcountry Tours.

1997
Austin sells Backcountry Tours and 3 days later decides he wants to be back in the adventure travel business.
Adventures plus is started and operates out of Dan's basement. -
2000
Paul Lehman and Dan Austin meet when Paul, an avid traveler and proponent of family travel, discovers Austin's business. A quick friendship leads to a new partnership.
Austin-Lehman Adventures is incorporated and formed.
ALA acquires Backcountry Tours. -
2003
Costa Rica is added to Austin-Lehman's roster. -
2004
Oaxaca, Mexico is added as a new destination. -
2005
Peru is added as a destination and trips to Machu Picchu begin.
Galapagos Islands tours are added.
Costa Rica trips are expanded. -
2006
Mexico and Costa Rica trips are added. -
2007
Okanagan, BC tours begin.
Chiapas, Mexico is added as a new destination. -
2008
Panama is added as a new destination.
Peru Lodge to Lodge tour is added.
Southern Africa is added to Austin-Lehman's roster marking significant expansion. 5 trips are added to this continent.
Euro-Bike and Walking Tours is acquired adding 34 years of bike tour expertise and legacy. -
2009
Italy, France, Holland, Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic are added to a growing global portfolio. 26 new European itineraries are featured.
Austin-Lehman Adventures is named the #1 Tour Operator in the World by the readers of Travel+Leisure magazine. -
2010
Greece, Belize and South Dakota are added as new trip destinations.
Austin-Lehman Adventures makes the list of Travel + Leisures' World's Top Adventure Trips -
2011
Morocco, Israel, Slovenia, Denmark, Namibia, New Zealand and Belize tours are added.New domestic family trips to Idaho’s Salmon River, Utah’s Bryce & Zion National Parks and California’s Yosemite Park are added

Austin-Lehman is one of first U.S. adventure travel companies to offer cultural tours to Cuba.
