Rioja bodegas our famous for a mix of the old and new. Many of the older wineries have revamped with modern winemaking equipment and techniques. But still some older wineries stick to the traditional winemaking of Spain. There are some 500 bodegas in the Rioja wine region. Tempranillo is the principal grape of the region, almost all the wines made in the region are made from this red grape. Visit the historic city of Pamplona and imagine the streets filled with people running from a stempede of bulls! Bike along the cliffs overlooking the Rioja’s breathtaking Cidacos valley, traversing almond groves and sheep-studded meadows and marveling at the footprints of dinosaurs on your way to Calahorra.
