California Adventure Travel
California is a land of extremes. There's Yosemite Falls: at 2,425 feet, it's the 5th tallest waterfall in the world. There's Tomales Bay: the state's largest unspoiled coastal embayment. The tallest living organism on Earth, the giant sequoia, makes California its home, as does the oldest known tree in the world, the Bristlecone Pine. California is also home to the rolling hills and vineyards of California's Wine Country in Napa and Sonoma, where you can find some of most beautiful landscapes in the state. While planning California adventures can be tough (there's so much to see and do!), Austin-Lehman has made it easy. We've chosen our favorite region: Yosemite National Park and the California Wine region of Napa and Sonoma and created an all-encompassing itinerary that captures the true flavor of the Golden State. From rappelling the 60-foot rock face at the base of El Capitan, to hiking some of the most exciting trails in Yosemite, to tasting some of the finest wines in the country after a day of biking, you'll explore the best that California has to offer with Austin-Lehman.
Relax your mind, satisfy your taste buds and ignite the adventurer within on these California adventures.

With 1,600 miles of streams feeding numerous lakes and ponds and over 800 miles of established hiking trails, Yosemite National Park in California is the ultimate family escape. Hike forest trails, atop granite domes and through the mist of thundering waterfalls. Learn the basics of rock climbing with the help of our professional instructors. High five after tackling the rapids of the class II and III Merced River Canyon. Discover how Yosemite Valley was formed and how many kids it takes, hand in hand, to circle the Telescope Tree. And return at the end of every fun-filled day to the indoor pool and spa at the Apple Tree Inn.Yosemite National Park Family Adventure
Hike through the Mariposa Grove of giant Sequoia trees, learning about these amazing giants (the largest single living organisms on Earth!) and hike to view the Telescope Tree, the solitary Galen Clark Tree, the California Tunnel Tree and the 290-foot tall (92 feet in circumference) Grizzly Giant, the largest in the grove. Embark on a day long hike beginning at Taft Point for a dramatic view of El Capitan and Yosemite Falls (the fifth highest waterfall in the world!). Follow the Pohono Trail to the top of Sentinel Dome, where you can scramble up one of the most easily accessible granite domes in the park, taking in another spectacular 360-degree view of Yosemite Valley, including Half Dome, North Dome and Vernal and Nevada Falls. From the town of El Portal, California, we embark on a fun, introductory half-day raft trip down the Merced River as it tumbles and twists out of Yosemite Valley. Enjoy lunch on the banks of the Merced River. Hike the Yosemite Valley loop taking in the wonders of Lower Yosemite Falls and Bridalveil Falls. Spend a day in the valley ‘learning the ropes’ – literally! You'll receive an introductory lesson in basic rock climbing and by the end of the day, we’ll be belaying and may even make a 60-foot rappel! This afternoon we’ll take in the sights of Ansel Adams’s Photo Gallery and stroll to Mirror Lake/Meadow to see firsthand how Yosemite Valley was formed. Hike to the thunderous 317 foot Vernal Falls and the 600 foot Nevada Falls. Learn more about our Yosemite National Park Family Adventure >>World's Best
