Dan and Paul Head to Arizona
Scouting Mission Adds Final Touches to New Program
Every successful Austin-Lehman adventure begins with a concept, often generated by guest feedback and suggestions. Then months of research, onsite exploratories and negotiations follow until a proposed itinerary can be created. Then it’s time to hit the road for an in-depth scouting mission before we can bestow our final ALA stamp of approval.
Desert Discoveries
Earlier this month, Dan Austin and Paul Lehman traveled to Arizona to scout our new Tucson to Tombstone Adventure. Accompanied by our local partner Seth Heald, founder of Arizona Outback Adventures, the trio left no cactus or stone unturned. The result was a vastly improved trip itinerary. Here are some of the exciting new additions:
We’re now planning two unforgettable nights in Bisbee, Arizona having discovered the artfully renovated Letson Loft Hotel. Located in Bisbee's oldest brick Victorian structure, the Letson is just a stroll to unique boutiques, antique shops, art galleries and cafes.
We've added a private class and dinner at the newly opened Tubac Culinary School. Learn the art of classic southwestern cuisine under the expert direction of Chef Alicia Hernandez!
A full day of hiking in Chiricahua National Monument has been added toDay 4 of the trip. We’ll explore the Echo Canyon Loop and Inspiration Point trails as they wind through spectacular rock formations, spires and pinnacles that are unique to this area. Located at the intersection of the Chihuahuan and Sonoran deserts, at the southern terminus of the Rocky Mountains the region’s plants and animals represent one of the premier areas of biological diversity in the northern hemisphere.
Our final night will feature a celebration dinner and the western hospitality of the Hacienda Del Sol Guest Ranch, rated one of the “Top US Resorts and Spas” by Zagat Survey.

New! Tucson to Tombstone Adventure
How the Wild Wild West once was - and still is!
In 1534, Spanish conquistadors came through this area looking for lost cities of gold and over the next 300 years, Spanish missionaries and Mexican settlers, pioneers, cowboys, and the great Apache warriors, Geronimo and Cochise walked this land.
Throughout our active, multisport tour, we’ll hike and bike in their footsteps, through lush grasslands and along mountain trails, visiting underground caverns, modern wineries and old Spanish missions. We’ll take a private cooking class, visit the shops and galleries of historic Bisbee and take a step back in time to “The Town Too Tough to Die”, Tombstone, Arizona. Each night will be spent relaxing in luxurious accommodations and savoring the local cuisine. This Arizona adventure will enchant and astound you!
