A Letter from Owners Dan Austin and Paul Lehman
Dear Friends,
We have to admit, standing still is hard for us (in fact, sitting ourselves down to write this letter heralds some celebration!). Whether on an Austin-Lehman adventure with our families, in the field researching new properties or in the office learning from past guests how we can continue to improve the ALA experience…one thing's certain: in our world, there's never a dull moment. We're constantly on the move, constantly evolving.
2007 marks an especially "evolutionary" year for us. First, our Website – it's new! After a major re-haul and redesign, you should find it more informative, easier to navigate and (if you ask us) a whole lot prettier. One of our favorite new features is the Adventurers Program – an interactive portion on the site devoted to our alumni, where you can post photos and experiences from your trip, read about other Adventurers’ travels and even send an AdventureGram to your friends while you’re on your trip, pinpointing your exact location on a map. Second, we continue to receive countless invaluable ideas and opinions from our guests (thank you!). We use your insights every day to ensure we're meeting your standards for an unforgettable adventure vacation.
Third, we've created a host of new itineraries this year. So no matter what your interests – hiking the Canadian Rockies, sipping wine after a bike ride around Lake Okanagan or treating the family to a holiday aboard a yacht in the Galapagos – you're bound to find an adventure vacation that's right for you. Keep an eye out, as well, for several soon-to-come international destinations in Central America and beyond.
Fourth, as we enter our 23rd year in the industry, we continue to receive prestigious recognition
for our trips, quality service and expertise in the world of adventure travel. This year we were invited by Forbes Traveler to join a panel of distinguished travel experts and offer our insights and opinions on the Top Hotels in the World and the Best of Mexico for 2007 – what an honor that was! 2007 also marks the 2nd consecutive year that National Geographic Adventure magazine has awarded Austin-Lehman Adventures the coveted "World's 25 Best New Trips" accolade. This year our Okanagan Wine Country Adventure received the honor – in 2006 it was our Oaxaca Adventure. So…as you can see, it's been an exciting year! Like we said, we're constantly on the move, constantly evolving…and while some may prefer the peace and quiet of "standing still," we take pride in change. Because for us, change is symbol of growth, innovation and our continued leadership in the world of adventure travel.
Cheers to another evolutionary year, and to our guests, our guides and our staff for being a part of it – we wouldn't be where we are without you!
