Raised in North Carolina with two sisters, he played baseball and threw the javelin in college as well as guided sea kayaking tours and rock climbing trips. Educated at Appalachian State University, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a focus on Management and Marketing. His real world education began as a Salesman with Rubbermaid Home Products in Seattle and Alaska. It wasn’t long before the travel bug bit hard. Nathan was on a one week home construction trip to Tijuana, Mexico with his church, an experience which led him to a position with a non-profit in South Africa helping AIDS orphans, then multiple years managing food distribution programs in Sudan and Honduras. In between his travels for work, Nathan has been to many other countries exploring their natural wonders and fascinating cultures.
Now, eager to live a somewhat less-mobile existence, Nathan is excited to use his travel knowledge to help people discover the many wonderful destinations ALA has to offer. His favorite places to visit are Seward, Alaska; Lago de Atitlan, Guatemala; Copan, Honduras; Cape Town, South Africa; Fort Portal, Uganda; and Dingle, Ireland.
