Halfway through your Canadian Rockies family adventure you begin to see the change. The kids beat you to breakfast. They leave you in the dust on a bike ride along the Evans Thomas path. They're counting down the minutes until their race course rapids rafting trip. You're not sure how they exude so much energy in a day, but one thing's for sure – the word bored has officially left their vocabulary.
By day, hike wildflower meadows and National Park trails, keeping an eye out for caribou, moose and mountain goats. Trek (crampons, walking sticks and all) across Athabasca Glacier with a local expert. Bike serene forested paths around turquoise lakes, raft the playful rapids of the Kananaskis River and hike a full day in Sentinel pass, learning how the surrounding spire-topped mountains were formed and marveling at the postcard perfect views of Paradise Valley below.
