Yellowstone: The Serengeti of the American West

Yellowstone - The Serengeti of the American West
Arriving in Yellowstone National Park is like stepping into the Discovery Channel. Mountain peaks soar, reaching for the sky. Canyons, a palette of earth tones, are peppered with geysers, fumaroles, steam vents and mud pots. Rushing rivers feed crystalline lakes and mighty forests make a comfortable home for grizzly bears, moose, elk, bison, wolves, deer, coyote and eagles.

Yellowstone hiking is best along unpopulated backcountry trails, geyser basin boardwalks and mountaintop lookouts. Raft the scenic Yellowstone, the longest free-flowing river in the lower 48 states. Ride horses high into the Absaroka Mountains alongside 4th generation Montana cowboys. Learn both sides of the bison migration and wolf re-introduction controversies shaping today’s Yellowstone, and why Chico is a favorite haunt of Hollywood celebrities.

Spend 6 days with Austin-Lehman in Yellowstone, and you'll quickly understand why it was designated the world's first National Park, "for the benefit and enjoyment of the people."

Yellowstone - The Serengeti of the American West

A few more reasons why you've gotta go…

  1. The wildlife: without a doubt, Yellowstone has the best wildlife viewing in all of North America.
  2. The geothermal activity: Yellowstone is home to more geysers, hot springs, bubbling mud pots, fumaroles and steam vents than the rest of the world has combined.
  3. The bragging rights: you'll be able to say you've been to the world's very first National Park.
  4. Our insider's access: known only to locals (and of course our guides), we'll take a dip in a hidden hot springs that tumbles into the Gardiner River.
